Self portraits are hard. It takes a lot of getting used to. Our own faces are the ones we see every day- it's so hard not to assume and just draw what we know, instead of really looking and drawing what we see. It's also hard to confront our own faces with honesty sometimes- when we live in a society that stresses appearance so heavily, it can be daunting not to attempt to modify or upgrade ourselves. These are all solid drawings, Ky. They're showing solid development in use of value to define and establish volume, understanding of proportions, line quality, texture- keep up the good work.
I really enjoy the first two, also! I am impressed by the hands and fingernails in the first drawing- it gives a sense of affection just by looking at it. The texture of the hair is spot-on for the first two. Self-portraits are hard. Only a few of mine look anything like me, but your last one has a hard perspective and I can still tell it is you. Great job!
These are great Ky! I love the first one and the second. I love the textures in these too!
