mark making pt 2 + 5 hands
For my other two drawings I decided to go the opposite - no shadows. Instead, I blocked out where the shadows would be. There's also a drawing of 5 hands :) The hands mark the end of this sketchbook, but luckily I have a couple blank ones waiting to be filled.
These portraits are really interesting. The idea of delineating areas of shadow without adding any value is interesting, and the culminating images are visually engaging. They have a flattened, fractured quality to them. Nice. The hands are good- they read more like a study instead of a finished drawing. Consider how you might use the background or an added object to help them relate to one another in a meaningful way.
